The Wendigo (also Windigo, Windago, Windiga, Witiko, and numerous other variants) is a figure appearing in Algonquian mythology. In these legends, it is a malevolent cannibalistic spirit into which humans could transform into murderous beasts with amazing strength, capable of destroying anything in their way.

Humans who indulged in cannibalism were at particular risk, and the legend appears to reinforce this practice as taboo.

300 years ago, a human, a native of the north-east Indian tribes succumbed to this temptation and became a “wendigo”, cursing him and his descendants forever.

A new blood line of flesh eating beings began to roam the earth, leading us to today. Since then, a breed of “trackers”, men sworn to stop the Wendigo bloodline to continue, hunt these creatures down.

All of this leads us to today, 2008…

The Blackmores, a normal middle class family, with an adorable daughter, MINA, are one of the descendants of this blood line and have managed to blend into society perfectly. Nobody could ever tell these nice folk are actually Wendigos.

They lead a normal life and are just like any other American family…except, they eat human flesh.

Both Jessica and Victor Blackmore have controlled their desire to kill for food, but Mina, on the other hand, has developed a stronger hunger, one that she cannot contain. One of the many problems a young girl at her age has to face.

Her uncontrollable and volatile tendencies create mayhem and murder in her community of Red Bug Lake, forcing the Blackmores to move from town to town, trying to escape and to start anew in a new place, trying to survive as a “normal” family.

Now that they have started in a new place, new school and new community, Mina begins to try and make an effort to blend in. But she fights many fronts, a developing friendship with a charming boy that likes her, an increasingly erratic father that threatens her with murder ( he killed her older siblings), her ever growing hunger and now, her biggest problem—a tracker!

Thomas Rainmaker, an FBI agent with Bureau 13, a branch of the FBI designed to solve unexplained mysteries and disappearances, and also a Wendigo Tracker, descendant from the first Wendigo tracker, is right on the trail of the Blackmore family.

Thomas, just like trackers before him can “sense”, can catch the Wendigo scent, and finally he has arrived to the last of them…the Blackmores.

But something happens, as he stalks and studies Mina’s family, in order to plan his attack, he develops a liking of Mina, he sees that she did not choose this curse, and that there is good in her, in fact, she is a good soul, but a cursed one nevertheless and it must end, she must be destroyed.

Now, as murders begin again, the Blackmore’s will fight among themselves and the entire town, who now want to hunt them down, leading to a spectacular showdown. With awesome action sequences and special effects, MINA is a thrilling ride into horror and suspense.
